Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in marine environmental research
- Regular field trips onboard research vessels that may extend outside conventional office hours
- Coordination of field trips, logistics and pre-field preparation
- Post-field processing of samples, including identification of specimens and image processing
- Purchasing of consumables and equipment
- General administrative duties
- General maintenance of laboratories and equipment
- Curation of reference collection
- Data management, analysis, interpretation and reporting
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a major in Marine Biology
- Strong background in coral ecology and/or biostatistics
- SCUBA Divers with a minimum of Rescue diver certification and/or 100 logged dives will be given priority
- Experience with LIT survey techniques
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Honest, highly motivated, resourcefulness, independence and a desire to learn
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, LaTeX and R
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- A background in ecological or mathematical modelling is a bonus
