Job Description

Applications are invited for the following full-time position in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health: Research Assistant (Children as Agents of Change for Family Health Promotion)

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting a full-time Research Assistant to support a multi-phase, qualitative and participatory study examining how school-aged children can serve as agents of change in promoting healthier behaviours among their families and caregivers in Singapore.

Job scope:
The Research Assistant will play a central role in coordinating and implementing core aspects of the study, including:
. Support participant recruitment across channels (institutional partners, community outreach, and digital and social media engagement), and coordinate scheduling, screening, and logistics across family and stakeholder groups.
. Support the facilitation of in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and participatory co-creation workshops with parents, children, educators, and multidisciplinary experts
. Administer consent and assent procedures, coordinate audio recordings, and maintain structured field notes and observational records in line with ethical guidelines.
. Manage secure study databases, ensure data quality, and maintain documentation for study operations and ethics-related processes.
. Coordinate transcription and translation workflows support qualitative coding and synthesis (including use of MAXQDA or NVivo where applicable), with willingness to lead or support qualitative and/or quantitative analyses arising from the data collected.
. Contribute to dissemination outputs (briefings, slides, manuscripts) and support drafting content for reports and future grant proposals as needed.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, Education, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with qualitative and/or mixed-methods research (e.g., interviews, focus groups, thematic analysis) familiarity with quantitative methods is an advantage.
  • Interest in and/or experience working with children, families, or community-based populations, with sensitivity to age-appropriate and participant-centred engagement.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple workstreams across recruitment, scheduling, and fieldwork logistics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills comfortable engaging diverse participants (including children, parents, educators, and professional stakeholders).

The grade of appointment will be accorded based on candidate's academic qualifications and years of relevant experience.
