Project Title: Study on the Pilot Program to Increase MTL Exposure in MOE Kindergartens (PRIME-MK)

Project Introduction:This study aims to evaluate the impact of two newly introduced Mother Tongue Language (MTL) teaching models in MOE Kindergartens-Model A, which involves an extended 30 minutes of MTL instructional time, and Model B, which integrates the extended MTL time with an English-MTL Tandem Teaching approach-on children's MTL learning outcomes and interest.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree with Honours or above preferably in Social Science, Linguistics, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Malay is required, to conduct data collection and analysis in both languages.

• Familiar with the Singapore education system
• Familiar with qualitative and quantitative research methods
• Proficient in using at least one statistical software package (e.g., SPSS)
• Experience in conducting research in schools
• Experience in coordination and conduct of data collection and organization
• Experience in analysing quantitative and qualitative data
• Possess strong interpersonal communication, writing and language skills
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Able to work cooperatively in a team environment

• Planning, preparation, and implementation of data collection
• Data cleaning and coding
• Synthesising of information from research findings
• Preparation of presentation materials
• Liaising with stakeholders
• Other tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator / Co-PIs
