Key Responsibilities:
Perform fabrication using Laser powder-bed fusion systems (Adequate training will be provided).
Perform metallurgical sample preparation of metal additively manufactured specimens, including sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching.
Conduct microstructural characterisation using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD).
Assist in materials analysis, interpretation of microstructural features, and documentation of experimental results.
Support mechanical and metallurgical testing activities related to metal additive manufacturing research projects.
Maintain laboratory equipment, ensure proper calibration and safe operation of characterisation facilities, and support general laboratory management activities.
Assist in experimental planning, sample tracking, data collection, and preparation of technical reports, presentations, and research publications.
Collaborate closely with researchers, students, and industrial partners to support ongoing research and development activities in advanced manufacturing and materials engineering.
Experience in technical documentation, preparation of research reports, or contribution towards intellectual property development such as technical disclosures and laboratory know-how will be advantageous.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
Experience in metallurgical sample preparation, materials characterisation, and microscopy techniques such as optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) is highly advantageous.
Knowledge of metal additive manufacturing processes such as Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) and Directed Energy Deposition (DED) will be preferred.
Familiarity with metallurgical analysis, microstructural interpretation, and materials testing techniques is advantageous.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
