Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support the development of an academic research paper titled The Strategic Secretary Problem. The project focuses on theoretical and analytical research involving decision-making, strategic behavior, optimization, and economic/game-theoretic modeling.
The Research Assistant will work closely with the principal researcher to support literature reviews, mathematical analysis, manuscript preparation, data organization, proofreading, and publication-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Research Support
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on topics related to:
- Secretary problems and optimal stopping theory
- Strategic decision-making
- Game theory and mechanism design
- Labor market and hiring models
- Dynamic optimization and stochastic processes
- Summarize academic papers and identify relevant theoretical contributions.
- Assist in organizing references, citations, and bibliography databases.
Analytical and Technical Support
- Assist with mathematical derivations, proof verification, and notation consistency.
- Support the preparation of figures, tables, diagrams, and appendices.
- Review equations, formatting, and manuscript structure for accuracy and clarity.
- Help verify assumptions, propositions, lemmas, and theorem statements.
Manuscript Development
- Edit and proofread drafts for grammar, structure, academic tone, and consistency.
- Assist with formatting manuscripts using LaTeX.
- Prepare submission-ready documents for academic journals or conferences.
- Help manage version control and document organization.
Administrative and Coordination Tasks
- Track research progress, revisions, and reviewer comments.
- Maintain organized research notes and supporting materials.
- Coordinate timelines and deliverables with the lead researcher.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate training in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with academic research methods and scholarly writing.
- Experience with LaTeX and academic citation management tools.
- Ability to read and interpret mathematical or theoretical research papers.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Technical Skills
