Job Description

Location: Tuas, Singapore (2-way transportation provided at selected MRT locations islandwide)

Employment Type: 1-year contract via 3rd party contractor (renewable)

Position Overview

Support product developers for the product development work, and pursue the activities of beverage samples preparation, sample analysis and operation and maintenance of the lab equipment, organize sample and ingredient storage, sample packing, receiving and shipment through online tool, make proper record of above work activities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare prototypes under the guidance from product developer, including the beverage, syrup and flavoring system, making sure that the prototypes meet the product specification with sensory profile, acidity, sweetness, color or any other organoleptic characteristic of the final product.
  • Preparation of small quantities of beverage base or products using equipment of the pilot plant and product development lab, such as balance, pumps, fillers, capers or any other equipment needed for this activity.
  • Prepare beverages and conduct analytical tests and taste or odor tests according to guidelines.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation (e.g., troubleshooting, conducting preventative maintenance, calibrating and repairing) according to guidelines.
  • Record results and observations in notebook. Maintain files and records, and regularly report the experimental result to product developer. (But not allow to bring notebook out of the lab in order to keep confidential)
  • Organize and maintain the storage of prototypes, samples and ingredients.
  • Sample packing, receiving and shipment through online tool.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1- 2 years experience in food/beverage or pharmaceutical multinational organization's quality control department/laboratory operations.
  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in Food Science or Food Engineering is preferred.
  • Ability to measure instrument variations and apply corrections for ensuring the accuracy and precision of an instrument or measurement tool.
  • Ability to recognize and protect proprietary information as it relates to formulas and ingredients.
  • General knowledge of the composition, structure and properties of inorganic substances needed to understand inorganic ingredients (e.g., acidulants, oxygen, water, buffers) used in Company products and in research on stability of ingredients.
  • Basic knowledge of food and water microbiology used to make judgments about the safety of ingredients, beverages, manufacturing techniques, packaging and storage conditions.
  • General understanding of all aspects of physical chemistry that are relevant to beverage products.
