The Research Analyst/Senior Analyst - Japanese Speaker role offers an opportunity to support strategic innovation initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region within a Japanese life insurance organisation. The position focuses on identifying market developments, engaging with external ecosystems, evaluating emerging business opportunities, and supporting collaborative projects with industry partners. Working closely with regional and global stakeholders, the role will generate actionable insights, foster strategic relationships, and contribute to business growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Market Intelligence & Trend Analysis

• Monitor developments across financial services, healthcare, technology, and adjacent sectors within Asia-Pacific markets

• Assess emerging trends related to artificial intelligence, digital transformation, data-driven business models, financial innovation, and technology-enabled customer solutions

• Conduct market analysis and synthesise findings into executive-ready reports, presentations, and recommendations

• Track competitive landscapes, regulatory developments, and evolving business models relevant to future growth opportunities

• External Engagement & Partnership Development

• Develop relationships with participants across the innovation landscape, including start-ups, corporations, technology providers, investors, research institutions, and public-sector organisations

• Maintain awareness of emerging companies and solutions that may present collaboration opportunities

• Participate in industry networking activities and establish connections with relevant stakeholders across the region

• Support partnership assessment and engagement efforts with identified organisations

• Ecosystem & Industry Participation

• Represent the organisation at industry conferences, forums, innovation showcases, and professional networking events

• Gather intelligence from industry discussions and share key insights with internal stakeholders

• Assist in organising workshops, executive briefings, knowledge-sharing sessions, and stakeholder engagement activities

• Contribute to initiatives that strengthen the organisation's presence within the regional innovation community

• Innovation Projects & Strategic Initiatives

• Support the evaluation, development, and execution of pilot projects with external organisations

• Coordinate communication among internal teams and external partners throughout project lifecycles

• Track project milestones, risks, deliverables, and outcomes

• Prepare status updates and post-project evaluations for management review

• Strategic Support & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Translate market insights into practical recommendations that support strategic planning and business development efforts

• Contribute to discussions regarding future growth areas, customer needs, and innovation opportunities

• Support the preparation of strategic materials, management presentations, and business updates

• Collaborate with regional and global stakeholders on cross-functional initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent professional qualification

• Approximately 3-7 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Financial services

• Technology and digital innovation

• Consulting

• Healthcare-related industries

• Corporate strategy or business development

• Professional proficiency in Japanese and English to communicate effectively with Japanese-speaking stakeholders

• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously

• Strong presentation and report-writing skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and artificial intelligence-enabled productivity tools

• Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in market research, strategy, or partnership activities within banking, payments, digital assets, financial technology, or related sectors

• Experience in innovation, transformation, or customer-focused initiatives within insurance or technology-driven service environments

• Experience in business development, ecosystem engagement, or commercial strategy within healthcare, wellness, ageing-related services, or digital health

• Consulting experience involving growth strategy, transformation programmes, or new venture development

• Experience in innovation, venture building, start-up engagement, accelerator programmes, corporate venture initiatives, or open innovation activities

• Experience working with cross-border stakeholders in multicultural and regional business environments
