The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) is seeking a qualified and motivated Research Analyst to join its Macro-Financial Research (MFR) Group.
MFR Group is primarily responsible for conducting rigorous research on macroeconomic, financial, and structural issues that shape the growth and financial stability of member economies, thereby supporting the institution's regional surveillance mandate, as the regional knowledge hub and platform for regional financial cooperation.
The successful candidate should have a solid understanding of macroeconomic and financial linkages, structural transformation, and emerging technologies shaping economic development.
Job Responsibilities:
- Contribute to analytical studies by collecting, processing, and analyzing macroeconomic and financial data; summarize results and provide supporting materials for policy and research reports.
- Assist in quantitative and econometric modelling, including time-series, panel, and cross-country analyses.
- Maintain, update, and document key macroeconomic and financial databases for internal use. Support migration and integration of data from multiple sources. Develop and maintain automated dashboards, visualization tools, and data pipelines to monitor economic and financial indicators.
- Assist developing, testing, and applying alternative frameworks to enhance automation and efficiency in economic research.
- Provide other research support for the MFR Group's activities as directed by the supervisors.
- Undertake any other task as directed by supervisors.
- Participate in any institution-wide activity, such as AMRO's internal committees or task forces, as assigned.
- Perform any other duty as may be reasonably required in furtherance of AMRO's overall goals.
The candidates should possess:
Education:
- Master's degree in economics, Finance, Public Policy, Statistics, or related fields with strong grounding in macroeconomics and econometrics.
Technical Skills:
- Experience in economic and financial data analysis and use of databases such as Bloomberg, Haver Analytics, CEIC, or Refinitiv.
- Proficiency in Python, R, Stata, EViews, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with data visualization and automation tools.
- Knowledge of AI-enabled or agentic research frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI) is a plus.
Analytical and Communication Skills:
- Strong quantitative ability, attention to detail, and data integrity.
- Clear written and verbal communication in English.
- Team-oriented, proactive, and adaptable in a multicultural environment.
