RENEWABLE ENERGY SENIOR UNDERWRITER, ENERGY HUB

Job Summary

HDI Global SE Singapore is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to lead the development and servicingof the regional Renewable Energy portfolio within the Energy Hub. You will drive profitable growth by applying underwriting expertise to Onshore Wind, Solar, BESS, Geothermal, and Hydropower risks, both operational and construction. This role offers opportunities for professional development, international exposure, and mentorship, reporting directly to the Underwriting Manager, Engineering, Singapore.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a profitable portfolio of Renewable Energy risks including Onshore Wind, Solar, BESS, Geothermal, and Hydropower, covering both operational and construction phases
  • Analyze new business and renewal submissions to assess risk and identify referral triggers in accordance with HDI Global Underwriting Guidelines and local authority limits
  • Quote, bind, and service new business and renewals, ensuring accurate issuance and review of policy documentation
  • Complete rating templates aligned with agreed processes and standards following underwriting assessments
  • Identify and pursue growth opportunities within the existing portfolio and support the Underwriting Manager, Engineering, in developing the business pipeline
  • Develop and present underwriting rationales with clear recommendations to the Underwriting Manager, Engineering
  • Operate within delegated underwriting licenses and guidelines to maintain compliance and risk standards
  • Promote the HDI Global SE Singapore brand by building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, brokers, and key intermediaries through regular visits and presentations
  • Communicate relevant market intelligence and updates to Line of Business Managers to inform strategic decisions
  • Support the Energy team's performance by ensuring consistent compliance with underwriting guidelines and administrative processes
  • Assist in preparing data and reports for weekly underwriting and trading meetings, including tracking quotations, wins, and losses
  • Manage policy issuance, premium certificates, endorsements, and premium calculations accurately and timely
  • Maintain electronic filing systems and documentation in accordance with company property guidelines
  • Participate in peer reviews and file audits to uphold underwriting quality and standards
  • Collaborate regularly with cross-functional teams including Claims, Natural Catastrophe Modelling, International Programs, Risk Engineering, Finance, and Operations to support integrated business objectives

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in any discipline, preferably Engineering-related
  • Possess or are working towards an insurance qualification from ACII, AAII, ANZIIF or SCI
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in reinsurance underwriting within specialty lines, including handling international inward programs
  • Demonstrated interest and commitment to developing expertise in the Energy sector
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications to support underwriting and reporting tasks
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills to effectively engage stakeholders and manage workload
  • Singaporeans or PRs preferred
