RESPONSIBILITIES

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reporting to: Centre Manager of Youth Development Centre under the direction of the Executive Director of Children and Youth Group (CYG).

PURPOSE / OBJECTIVES:

Youth Development Centre (YDC) currently provides a drop-in centre service for latchkey, at risk youth from low to middle incomes families and also incubates new programmes such as youth mental health programmes and the Befrienders For Families (BFF), a programme to support the safe preservation and reunification of vulnerable children with their families. We also provide specialised supervised access services for vulnerable families.

Relief Youth Work Associate is responsible for working closely with key stakeholders to plan, organise and implement programmes and activities for the Centre's clients, manage volunteers and conduct needs and outcome assessment to measure and enhance programme relevance and effectiveness to bring about quality service and standards.

We are looking for someone with a Can Do spirit who is creative in problem solving and with a passion for making a difference vulnerable children and families. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Drop in:

  1. Work with young people in accordance to YDC approved settings, maintaining professional and purposeful relationships, displaying a sound understanding of equality issues, respecting and valuing individuals diversity and the variety of their contributions and ensures that the service provided to young people upholds these principles.
  1. Ensure smooth running of daily operations of YDC, from planning to execution of programmes that will develop youths social and emotional competencies.
  1. To connect with youths, build positive relationships and contribute to the holistic development of them.
  1. To observe and identify key needs of youths. When interacting and organizing activities with the youths, find opportunities to elicit their strengths and empower them.

Volunteer Management:

  1. To assist liaison person to communicate and work with potential stakeholders such as organisations, vendors and volunteers, to bring in appropriate programmes that meet the needs of our youths.
  1. To ensure volunteer-initiated programmes align with the different needs of the youths while maintaining the interest of volunteers.
  1. To develop clear communication channels where enquiries, feedback, updates and concerns could be mutually raised by the volunteers and the Centre, and to ensure there is proper follow-up and closure carried out on all matters raised.

Youth Development Programmes:

  1. To plan, develop and execute programmes that caters to the physical, emotional, spiritual, educational and social needs and interests of our youths. This includes youth mental health programmes and services
  1. Conduct periodic needs and outcome assessment to evaluate the effectiveness and relevance of key programmes.
  1. To engage inputs from the various parties working with the residents and as well as the residents themselves in all programme planning, development and its outcome evaluation as far as practicable.

Professional Development:

  1. Maintain professional knowledge, ethics and skills, and initiate personal responsibility, self-development and education.
  1. Keep up to date with the current trends of the social service sector as well as the needs of the client group.

Administration:

  1. Provide professional support to access services by undertaking administrative task, sharing information and responding to queries.
  1. Ensure efficient use of resources and work within approved budgets for all access services activities and services.
  1. Communicate in a timely, open and honest way, encouraging two-way constructive feedback covering both positive and more difficult issues.
  1. Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required of you by the Centre Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Degree holders with a passion for working with children and youth
  • Candidates with relevant experience are strongly encouraged to apply

OTHER INFORMATION

Duty Hours

Up to 8 hours per shift (part of a shift can be considered according to operational exigencies)

Shift : 10am to 7pm

Separate work schedule will be provided by Centre. It is expected that relief staff need to attend training, supervision, operational briefings/meetings and gatherings in order to ensure operations can be smoothly run.
