Relief Teacher

GESS is inviting applications from qualified and committed Relief Teachers to support teaching needs in both the German Section and the European Section (IB Curriculum) across various grade levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach one or more specialist subjects, following the lesson plan of the designated teacher during their absence
• Manage classroom behaviour to optimise student learning and maintain a positive learning environment
• Facilitate learning among a diverse group of students
• Assess, record, and report on student learning and progress, where applicable
• Contribute to the development of academic and pastoral curricula, where relevant
• Attend meetings, carry out supervision duties, and participate in professional development when required

Requirements

• Relevant teaching qualification:

1. For the German Section: Completion of 1st and 2nd Staatsexamen (state examinations for teaching in Germany) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
2. For the European Section: Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Bachelor of Education, PGCE, or equivalent)

• Proficiency in the language of instruction to liaise with students, parents and colleagues:

1. For the German Section: Must be proficient in German - spoken & written language - as the class will be conducted in German
2. Good English skills - spoken & written language

• Prior teaching experience is advantageous
• Ability to adapt to different subjects and age groups
• Commitment to maintaining a respectful, inclusive learning environment

Our School

The German European School Singapore (GESS) is a multi-lingual, not-for-profit, German international school in Singapore with a distinct European flavour. As an accredited Excellent German School Abroad, the German Section of GESS offers all major German school leaving certificates.

Our European Section offers tuition in English for students from grade 1 - 12 across all three IB programmes (the PYP, the MYP and the IB Diploma Programme) as an authorised IB World School.

Children aged 2 years onwards can enroll in our Preschool where children are following the PYP programme in German-speaking, English-speaking or bilingual groups. In addition to an outstanding academic education, GESS strives to teach students community values such as respect, openness and diversity.
