Job Summary
The Relay Testing Engineer will be responsible for protection relay testing, commissioning, fault analysis, and troubleshooting across electrical infrastructure projects in India.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform testing and commissioning of protection relays, including numerical and conventional relays.
- Conduct secondary injection testing using Omicron, Megger, or equivalent testing kits.
- Perform primary injection testing and end-to-end scheme validation.
- Work with Overcurrent & Earth Fault (OC/EF) protection.
- Handle Transformer Differential, Feeder & Line, and Distance Protection schemes.
- Verify relay settings and protection coordination.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot relay/system faults at project sites.
- Prepare commissioning reports, test reports, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with clients, OEM engineers, and internal execution teams.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards.
Mandatory Requirements
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
- 2–6 years of experience in relay testing and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of power system protection.
- Hands-on experience with Omicron CMC and Megger relay testing kits.
- Experience with protection relays from Schneider Electric and GE Vernova.
- Siemens relay experience is preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Substation experience: 11kV to 220kV or above.
- Exposure to SCADA / RTU / automation systems.
- Knowledge of IEC standards related to protection and testing.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India.
