Role Overview:
The Regulatory Compliance Lead is responsible for overseeing and strengthening the firm's regulatory compliance framework across applicable jurisdictions. This role plays a critical part in supporting global expansion, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enabling licensing and market entry across new jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the regulatory compliance framework, including AML CTF, sanctions, KYC, transaction monitoring, and regulatory reporting.
- Act as a key point of contact for regulators and supervisory authorities, managing regulatory communications, inquiries, inspections, and examinations.
- Support new market expansion by leading and assisting with licensing applications, renewals, variations, and ongoing regulatory obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Work closely with regulators throughout the licensing and approval process, including pre application discussions, submissions, and ongoing engagement.
- Provide regulatory and compliance advice to business teams on new products, markets, and jurisdiction specific requirements.
- Monitor global regulatory developments in crypto and payments, assess impact, and proactively implement changes.
- Ensure compliance policies, procedures, controls, and governance documentation are up to date and audit ready.
- Partner closely with Legal, Risk, Product, Operations, and Technology teams to embed compliance by design.
- Oversee and support compliance systems, tools, and vendors, including implementation and ongoing effectiveness.
- Assist with internal compliance reviews, risk assessments, and remediation of regulatory findings.
Key Requirements:
- Extensive senior level compliance experience within the crypto or digital asset industry is mandatory.
- Proven experience leading compliance for new market entry, licensing, and global expansion in complex, multi jurisdictional environments.
- Strong hands on capability across compliance frameworks, systems, and operational execution, not purely advisory.
- Demonstrated experience engaging directly with regulators in new or developing regulatory regimes, including licensing reviews, examinations, and supervisory interactions.
- Deep expertise in AML, CTF, sanctions, and financial crime compliance requirements applicable to crypto businesses.
- Experience selecting, implementing, and managing compliance vendors and technology solutions to support scalable expansion.
- Prior experience in payments, fintech, or traditional financial services is highly preferred.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, business heads, and regulators across jurisdictions.
- Chinese language proficiency in Mandarin would be a strong plus.
