About the Client
Our client is a leading international financial institution with a strong presence across Asia and a continued focus on regional growth and strategic expansion. As part of its ongoing transformation agenda, the firm is seeking an experienced Regional Tax Director to lead tax advisory and strategic tax initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. This is a highly visible role partnering closely with senior business leaders, finance, legal, compliance, and external advisors to support regional expansion, business transformation, cross-border transactions, and tax risk management across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Tax Advisory: Partner with senior business stakeholders to provide commercially focused tax advice on regional expansion, new market entry, business restructuring, and strategic initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.
- M&A and Business Transformation: Lead tax advisory work relating to acquisitions, divestments, business restructurings, legal entity rationalization, and other strategic transformation projects.
- International Tax & Transfer Pricing: Oversee regional transfer pricing policies, cross-border tax structuring initiatives, and evolving international tax developments impacting financial institutions.
- Business & Product Advisory: Provide tax advice on cross-border business structures, investment platforms, financial products, and new business initiatives across the region.
- Tax Risk Management & Stakeholder Engagement: Develop robust tax governance frameworks, manage tax risks and regulatory developments, and maintain strong relationships with external advisors and tax authorities to support the firm's long-term strategic objectives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law, or a related discipline. Professional qualifications such as CPA, CA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent are preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 15 years of relevant tax experience gained within financial institutions, professional services firms, or a combination of both. Experience advising regional businesses across Asia is highly desirable.
- Technical Expertise: Strong expertise in international taxation, transfer pricing, cross-border structuring, M&A transactions, and strategic tax advisory within the financial services sector.
- Skills: Commercially minded with excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills. Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with senior business leaders in a complex, regional environment.
