THE POSITION
The Regional Senior Legal Counsel is a strategic advisor and enabler to the Human Pharma business in ROPU ASKAN. The role exists to enable innovation, portfolio growth and execution excellence, while safeguarding patient safety, business integrity, and sustainable value creation through pragmatic, riskbased legal support.
The Regional Senior Legal Counsel partners closely with Human Pharma leadership and crossfunctional teams to ensure that business objectives are delivered faster, compliantly and responsibly, in line with company values and regulatory expectations.
Tasks & responsibilities - Strategic Business Partnership
- Act as a trusted legal advisor and sparring partner to Human Pharma leadership (Commercial, Medical, Market Access and enabling functions).
- Translate Human Pharma strategy and priorities into clear legal risk assessments, options and recommendations to support informed decisionmaking.
- Anticipate legal risks arising from new business models, launches, partnerships and external engagements, and address them proactively
- Enabling Innovation & Scientific Excellence
- Support clinical trials, medical activities, patient engagements, digital and datadriven initiatives through early, pragmatic legal involvement.
- Design and apply fitforpurpose legal guardrails that enable speed and innovation while protecting patient safety, ethics and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with Medical, Clinical Operations and Digital teams to ensure innovation is responsible, scalable and sustainable across ASKAN markets.
- Supporting Portfolio Growth & Launch Excellence
- Advise on launch readiness, lifecycle management and postLoE strategies, including promotional frameworks, partnerships and patient support models.
- Enable compliant and commercially viable gotomarket models, balancing global standards with local market realities.
- Ensure consistent, riskbased application of Human Pharma legal principles across OPUs, while avoiding unnecessary complexity or overcontrol.
- Execution Excellence & Simplification
- Drive simplification, standardization and scalability of legal processes (e.g. contracting, approvals, templates) to reduce business friction.
- Embed legal requirements into businessfriendly workflows, enabling teams to execute efficiently without repeated escalation.
- Apply riskbased judgement, distinguishing between material risks and acceptable business tradeoffs.
- Governance, Integrity & Risk Management
- Safeguard the organization through robust legal governance, supporting compliance with applicable laws, internal policies and ethical standards.
- Partner with Compliance to reinforce integritybased decisionmaking, speakup culture and accountability within Human Pharma.
- Support investigations, escalations and remediation in a solutionoriented and businessaware manner.
- Stakeholder & CrossFunctional Collaboration
- Work closely with Compliance, Data Protection, IP, Regulatory Affairs, Medical and Corporate Affairs to deliver integrated legal solutions.
- Act as a connector across ROPU and OPU Legal teams to share best practices and ensure alignment.
- Build strong, credible relationships with internal stakeholders based on trust, responsiveness and commercial understanding.
Requirements
- Fully qualified lawyer with relevant jurisdictional admission.
- Post qualification experience of 5-7 years.
- Solid experience in legal practice and pharmaceutical, healthcare, FMCG, life-sciences or regulated industries preferably in a regional or multicountry environment.
- Strong business acumen and ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior levels.
- Sound judgement and ability to operate in ambiguous, fastmoving environments.
- Pragmatic, solutionoriented mindset with high ethical standards.
