The Flexicon Corporation, a leading global bulk material handling system manufacturer, is establishing a presence in Indonesia and has an opening for a technically capable, self-motivated individual to lead that effort. This is a hybrid role: alongside managing enquiries, quotations and existing customer relationships, the successful candidate is expected to actively originate new business across Indonesia and nearby South-East Asian markets. The person in this role will operate with a high degree of independence in-market, supported by colleagues in Singapore, Australia and the global business development team. A positive attitude, strong organizational and time management skills, and excellent written and verbal communication in both Bahasa Indonesia and English are essential. Extensive travel within Indonesia and the surrounding region is required.
Reporting:
Reports to the General Manager, Flexicon Singapore Pte Ltd, with a close working relationship with the Australia manufacturing and engineering offices.
General Areas of Responsibility:
- Identify, research and prioritize target industries, key accounts and projects across Indonesia and adjacent Southeast Asian markets.
- Support the business development activities through market intelligence and targeted marketing initiatives, to build brand awareness, generate leads and convert opportunities.
- On-site visits, phone and virtual conversations with Flexicon customers and prospects to review all aspects of their application, making requirement-based recommendations, quotations and sales.
- Review of technical and engineering specifications, and coordinate responses with internal teams, before reverting to customers. Collaborate closely with Sales and Applications Engineers teams across the base operations of Flexicon.
- Originate new opportunities through direct outreach, industry associations, trade events, consultants, EPC contractors and referral networks, and follow up promptly on all leads and contacts provided by Flexicon.
- Maintain and establish effective working relationships with a diverse customer base within the territory's materials handling industry.
- Maintain accurate pipeline, activity and forecast data in the CRM so that opportunity and forecast information remains visible and current.
- Contribute local market intelligence on competitor activity, pricing pressure, regulatory considerations and emerging end-user segments into the regional expansion plan.
- Frequent travel to customer sites within Indonesia and nearby countries in South-East Asia, up to 80% of working time, is required.
Requirements:
- In-depth understanding of local culture and the ability to navigate the Indonesian business environment.
- Fluent written and spoken Bahasa Indonesia and English; additional regional languages are an advantage.
- Ability to perform assigned responsibilities independently with minimal supervision, adhering to deadlines and commitments.
- Engineering or technical qualification, or equivalent practical experience specifying equipment for industrial applications.
- Minimum three years experience in field sales of technical or capital equipment; experience with bulk processing or bulk material handling equipment is an advantage.
- An established network within Indonesian manufacturing, food and beverage, chemical, mining or pharmaceutical sectors is an advantage.
- Competence with standard business applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and the CRM system.
