Job Description

Our client is a healthcare MNC with a global footprint. They are looking for a hands-on HRIS Specialist with strong Workday configuration expertise to anchor their HR technology function across APAC. This is a dual-focused role spanning both system operations and HR data analytics. This role will be the subject matter expert whom internal stakeholders turn to for day-to-day support, process improvement, integration initiatives, and translating HR data into meaningful insights for decision-makers. This is a growth role with a clear pathway to HRIS Lead. The right candidate will be technically capable, proactive, and comfortable managing a broad network of stakeholders, from HRBPs and COEs to IT, vendors, and regional business leaders across multiple markets.

Key Responsibilities

1. HRIS System Management & Configuration

  • Serve as the primary Workday system owner for the APAC region, handling day-to-day troubleshooting, configuration, and optimisation across HCM and related modules.
  • Maintain and enhance Workday configurations to ensure the platform is fully leveraged and aligned to evolving business needs.
  • Build and maintain technical knowledge across Workday and other HRIS platforms, providing hands-on support and acting as the go-to SME for the HR team.
  • Identify, propose, and lead process improvement initiatives, from incremental tweaks to broader re-engineering efforts.
  • Document system configurations, workflows, and standard operating procedures to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer.

2. Integration

  • Support and advance Workday integration initiatives across the region, with an initial focus on payroll integration as an area of improvement.
  • Identify gaps in cross-system data flows and partner with HR Operations and IT to design and implement solutions.
  • Pick up integration projects with minimal ramp-up time, researching independently, asking the right questions, and driving progress effectively.
  • Stay current on Workday integration capabilities and what is available in the broader HRIS market.

3. HR Data Analytics

  • Develop and maintain HR data analytics capabilities, leveraging tools such as Power BI to present timely, accurate, and actionable workforce insights to business leaders.
  • Manage and enrich HR data integrity, building solutions that ensure data is reliable, consistent, and fit for reporting purposes.
  • Partner with HR and business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into clear, decision-ready outputs.
  • Build on existing technology (including AI chatbots, HR knowledge bases, and ticketing systems) to enhance the overall associate experience and HR service delivery.

4. Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

  • Act as a credible HR technology partner to internal stakeholders including HRBPs, Centres of Excellence, IT, and commercial business units, demonstrating deep knowledge and sound judgement.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, Workday contacts, and implementation consultants to ensure effective delivery and accountability.
  • Navigate the nuances of a regional role, engaging stakeholders across multiple APAC markets with cultural sensitivity and clarity.
  • Work cross-functionally across Workday modules (e.g. Recruiting, Learning) and alongside HR Operations to drive synergies and alignment.
  • Network with industry peers and stay at the forefront of emerging HR technology trends, proposing and championing initiatives that improve associate experience through technology.

Required skills and competencies:

Must-Have

  • Minimum 5 years of HRIS experience, with hands-on Workday configuration expertise.
  • Demonstrated exposure to Workday integrations, including payroll integration concepts, tools, or data flows.
  • Experience in data management and HR analytics, with proficiency in tools such as Power BI.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, ability to engage credibly with HR, business, and technology partners at all levels.

Strongly Preferred

  • Workday Pro HCM Core certification (or equivalent), with working knowledge of additional modules such as Recruiting, Learning, or Payroll.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating across multiple markets is an advantage, though not a strict requirement.
  • Experience leading or contributing to HRIS transformation projects or system implementation initiatives.
  • Background in either in-house HRIS or HR technology consulting. Candidates with 1-2 years in consultancy who have since moved in-house are welcome.

Competencies & Ways of Working

  • Proactive and self-directed: you research problems thoroughly, find answers independently, and follow through without relying on others to do the technical work for you.
  • Intellectually curious: you keep up with what Workday can do, what is emerging in the market, and how technology can raise the bar for HR.
  • Credible communicator: you can engage stakeholders at all levels, translate technical concepts into plain language, and demonstrate subject matter authority.
  • Collaborative and adaptable: you work effectively across functions and cultures, with the understanding that a regional role comes with complexity and occasional fire-fighting.
  • Growth-oriented: you are building toward greater responsibility and are open to expanding your scope beyond your current technical niche.

This is a fast-paced role with a strong operational component. Day-to-day, you can expect a mix of system troubleshooting, configuration work, data requests, and project contributions, often simultaneously, across markets with different needs and nuances. This role suits someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, is energised by variety, and is ready to step into a more senior position as the function matures.

Thank you for your interest. Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be notified. All resumes received will be used for recruitment purposes only.
