Job Description

The Regional Head of Strategy is responsible for leading the development and execution of Weichai Power's regional strategic agenda across the Asia-Pacific and India Broader region, supporting all business segments. The role provides strategic leadership in regional business planning, market intelligence, corporate development, business expansion, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures (JV), strategic partnerships, investments, and transformation initiatives to strengthen Weichai's competitive position and deliver sustainable long-term growth.

Working closely with Headquarters and regional commercial, product, engineering, operations, finance, legal, and functional leadership teams, the incumbent will identify emerging growth opportunities, evaluate new markets, formulate regional strategies, assess investment opportunities, and drive strategic initiatives that accelerate profitable growth across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Business Growth

  • Develop and implement the regional strategic roadmap across all Weichai Power business segments, ensuring alignment with the Group's global strategy and long-term business objectives.
  • Identify long-term growth opportunities across the Asia-Pacific and India Broader region through market analysis, customer insights, and industry trends.
  • Formulate market entry and expansion strategies for priority countries and industry sectors.
  • Lead strategic planning exercises, including annual business planning, market prioritisation, and growth initiatives.
  • Recommend strategic initiatives to strengthen Weichai's competitive position and regional market share.

Market Intelligence and Competitive Analysis

  • Conduct comprehensive market research, competitive benchmarking, customer analysis, and industry assessments across all Weichai Power business segments.
  • Analyse market demand, customer requirements, pricing trends, competitive positioning, regulatory developments, macroeconomic conditions, and emerging technologies impacting Weichai's businesses.
  • Develop strategic reports, market assessments, executive presentations, and actionable insights for senior management and headquarters.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritise long-term growth opportunities across the Asia-Pacific and India Broader region through market analysis, customer insights, and industry trends.

Business Expansion and Strategic Initiatives

  • Identify, evaluate, and execute strategic growth initiatives, including new business opportunities, strategic investments, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures (JV), and strategic collaborations to accelerate regional growth.
  • Develop business cases, financial analyses, feasibility studies, and investment recommendations for regional expansion.
  • Support the establishment of new regional offices, distributors, dealers, and strategic partnerships.
  • Drive strategic transformation initiatives that improve business performance, operational efficiency, and organisational capability.
  • Lead special strategic projects assigned by senior management and headquarters.

Strategic Partnerships

  • Develop, negotiate, and manage strategic relationships and partnerships with OEMs, technology partners, government agencies, infrastructure developers, EPC contractors, distributors, system integrators, hyperscalers, AI data centre operators, and other key ecosystem partners across Weichai Power's business segments.
  • Identify collaboration opportunities that enhance Weichai's market presence and competitive advantage.

Commercial Strategy Support

  • Partner with regional business leaders across all business segments to formulate commercial strategies, identify growth opportunities, optimise market positioning, develop customer segmentation, and execute go-to-market initiatives.
  • Support major commercial opportunities by providing market intelligence, competitive insights, pricing analysis, and strategic recommendations.
  • Assist in evaluating strategic bids, large-scale tenders, and major infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor regional business performance and recommend strategic actions to achieve sustainable growth.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Project Management, Sales, Finance, Marketing, Legal, and After-Sales teams to align strategic initiatives with business objectives.
  • Facilitate communication between regional operations and headquarters on strategic priorities and business performance.
  • Mentor regional strategy and business planning personnel where applicable.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Present strategic recommendations, business cases, and regional market intelligence to senior management and headquarters to support executive decision-making.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Engineering, Economics, International Business, Strategic Management, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, business development, commercial management, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), strategic partnerships, or regional leadership within relevant industries.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing regional growth strategies across Asia-Pacific and India Broader markets.
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning, market intelligence, business planning, corporate development, investment evaluation, and executive decision support.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional strategic initiatives across multiple countries and cultures.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience in financial modelling, investment appraisal, valuation methodologies, feasibility studies, ROI analysis, and capital allocation.
  • Proven experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures (JV), strategic alliances, partnerships and post-merger integration is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with OEMs, hyperscalers, AI data centre operators, colocation providers, EPC contractors, utilities, and other data centre ecosystem partners will be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of regional geopolitical developments, regulatory environments, industrial policies, and international trade dynamics affecting Asia-Pacific markets.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and programme management capabilities.
  • Outstanding communication, executive presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior executives, Headquarters, Boards, and external partners.
  • Proficient in English and Mandarin to effectively communicate with Headquarters and Chinese-speaking stakeholders across the region.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the Asia-Pacific and India Broader region.
