Regional Head of Business Development – Insurance (SG/MY)

Location: Singapore/ Malaysia | Region: APAC

We are seeking a dynamic Regional Head of Business Development to be based in Singapore or Malaysia, leading growth across APAC in the Health, Property & Casualty, Accident, & Travel insurance sector.

The ideal candidate brings a hunter mindset, proven ability to close multi‑country deals, and deep experience across multiple lines of insurance. Strong existing relationships with insurers, distributors, and financial partners in the region are essential. This is a senior leadership role for a results‑driven professional ready to expand market presence, drive revenue growth, and build long‑term strategic partnerships across diverse APAC markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the company's global vision and objectives. Ensure regional growth plans are tailored to diverse APAC markets.
  • Market Expansion Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and markets across Greater China, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Australia & New Zealand etc. Drive entry strategies and multi-country deal execution.
  • Client Relationship Management Build and maintain existing relationships with insurers, distributors, and financial partners while expanding networks across APAC. Ensure long-term business success through consultative engagement.
  • Sales & Revenue Growth Lead and drive sales initiatives to consistently exceed revenue and profitability targets. Demonstrate a hunter mindset by proactively acquiring new clients, closing deals, and maximizing upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and motivate a regional business development team to execute growth strategies. Coach team members to deliver professional client service and achieve career development goals.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams Work closely with underwriting, marketing, operations, and product teams to develop tailored solutions and proposals for clients. Ensure seamless execution of regional initiatives.
  • Market Intelligence Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes to identify new opportunities and stay ahead of industry developments. Adjust strategies proactively to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Insurance Expertise Apply deep knowledge of multi-line insurance products, distribution models, and customer needs to design innovative solutions and strengthen market positioning.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in sales/business development, with at least 5 years in leadership roles within insurance, assistance, or related industries.
  • Proven track record in multi-country deal-making and regional business expansion.
  • Strong existing relationships across insurance, financial, and travel-related industries in APAC.
  • Demonstrated hunter mentality with ability to independently drive new business acquisition.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and results orientation.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Mandarin, Cantonese, or Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM tools.
  • Experience working in multinational environments preferred.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across APAC while being based in Singapore or Malaysia.
