At a Glance

We are looking for a hands-on Regional Data Domain Expert APAC to join the Clearing Data Management Center of Excellence (CoE) to steer the organisation's data-driven transformation. In this role, you will be part of a small but dynamic team to implement our global data framework across the Asia Pacific region, drive adoption of data governance, quality, and literacy whilst ensuring regional alignment with global objectives.

You will also be instrumental in helping the region craft and deliver APAC specific data aspirations and obligations to regulators whilst contributing to alignment of APAC towards global data initiatives. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration across business and technology, a good understanding of clearing and its data, and a proactive approach to solving complex challenges.

Your Job

As a member of the Clearing Data Management CoE, the Regional Data Domain Expert APAC contributes to the implementation of the global data framework across the APAC region, ensuring alignment with both global strategy and local regulatory and business needs. This role is pivotal in advocating data governance, quality, and culture throughout the region.

Key responsibilities include:

Regional Implementation

  • Execute the rollout of the global data framework roadmap in APAC, tailoring approaches to local requirements and regulatory environments.
  • Act as a key team member for APAC in global data initiatives.
  • Contribute towards global data capabilities and its global rollout.

Stakeholder Communication & Transformation

  • Execute the shift toward a data-driven culture across the region by influencing and guiding business stakeholders and data users through the transformation journey.
  • Engage with regional stakeholders across Finance, Commerce, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and IT to align data priorities with business goals.
  • Work closely with the Education & Awareness Lead (located in Amsterdam) to organize data events, awareness campaigns, and training sessions for the region to build data literacy and embed data as a strategic asset.

Data Risks, Artifacts, Compliance & Data Ownership

  • Assist the Global Policies & Standards Lead to ensure that global data governance artifacts have taken into consideration the inputs from APAC legal and compliance teams.
  • Contextualize and conduct gap analysis for regulatory expectations from HQ to APAC.
  • Work with regional compliance and legal functions to drive the compliance of data related regulations and expectations for APAC.
  • Create and drive the adoption of data guidelines and self-help data tools for APAC
  • Support the governance and monitoring of data risk controls for the region.
  • Advocate for governance of data, by clarifying ownership, designing or improving processes and establishing roles and responsibilities in the context of APAC.
  • Propagate the adoption of data-related standards for critical regional business processes.

Governance & Influence

  • Be part of the secretariat team for the APAC Regional Data Committee (ADC) to align priorities, track initiatives, and promote cross-functional collaboration for APAC.
  • Assist in regular reporting, insights, and escalation on regional data issues, adoption progress, and risks to relevant executive stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial institutions, with a strong background in the operationalization of data governance initiatives or data regulatory compliance.
  • Proven track record working in the Asia Pacific region, with familiarity with local market infrastructure, exchanges, and regulatory environments.
  • Degree in relevant fields such as Information Management, Finance, Business Analytics, or Computer Science.
  • Experience working with global and regional stakeholders, and an ability to navigate both HQ (European) expectations and local APAC realities.
  • Strong experience in cross-functional business analysis for process improvement or design across complex IT environments is a plus.
  • Prior experience in any Governance, Risk or Compliance role for data or IT is a plus.
  • High level of data literacy and experience in data management domains including data quality, data governance, metadata, lineage, and policy frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences, i.e.: from regional business teams to European business teams.
  • Skilled in building data awareness, facilitating training sessions, and advocating for data literacy across the region.
  • Strong cultural awareness and interpersonal skills to work effectively with all APAC colleagues.
  • Growth and excellence driven mindset, self-motivated, curious, team player with a demonstrated ability to thrive through challenges and ambiguity.
  • Experience with data tooling such as Tableau (for dashboarding), Collibra (for metadata management), and AWS (as storage platform) is a plus.
