Regional Business Development Manager (Marine Services)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Regional Business Development Manager to lead the growth and expansion of our marine services business across the region. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing business growth strategies, managing key customer relationships, identifying new market opportunities, and driving revenue and profitability.

This role requires strong maritime industry knowledge and an established network within vessel owners, ship management companies, shipyards, marine equipment manufacturers, and offshore operators.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategy

  • Develop and execute regional business development strategies aligned with company objectives and growth targets.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the maritime and offshore sectors.
  • Drive lead generation, customer acquisition, and business expansion initiatives.
  • Manage tender opportunities, proposal submissions, and contract negotiations.
  • Ensure vendor registrations and approvals with targeted marine and offshore companies.

Sales & Commercial Management

  • Promote the company's products and services to existing and prospective customers.
  • Prepare commercial proposals, quotations, and profitability analyses.
  • Develop sales forecasts and business plans to achieve agreed revenue targets.
  • Monitor project profitability and ensure commercial objectives are met.
  • Negotiate commercial terms while maintaining company margins and competitiveness.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vessel owners, ship managers, shipyards, offshore operators, and key stakeholders.
  • Understand customer requirements and provide tailored technical and commercial solutions.
  • Ensure a positive customer experience throughout the sales and service lifecycle.
  • Act as the key point of contact for strategic customers and major accounts.

Market Intelligence & Business Planning

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing strategies, and customer requirements.
  • Provide timely market intelligence and business insights to support management decision-making.
  • Identify emerging opportunities within marine navigation, communication, automation, and offshore service sectors.
  • Support the development of marketing and business growth plans.

Operations & Team Leadership

  • Develop and maintain customer and equipment databases to support business development activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record management.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding business strategies, pricing, customer information, and commercial data.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce office policies and procedures in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing regional team aligned with business objectives and growth targets.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of business development, sales, or commercial experience within the maritime or offshore industry.
  • Proven experience managing regional business development activities and achieving revenue growth targets.
  • Experience working with vessel owners, ship management companies, shipyards, offshore operators, marine equipment manufacturers, or service providers.

Industry Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of the maritime and offshore sectors.
  • Experience in marine navigation, communication systems, automation systems, marine electronics, or technical marine services is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with vessel operations, shipyard activities, and marine service requirements.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute business growth strategies.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in costing and profitability analysis.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to build and manage teams.

  • Willingness to travel within the region as required.
