Job Description

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and passionate Category Manager who will be responsible for the sourcing and merchandising of a grocery category for RedMart Lazada Singapore.

The candidate needs to show skill-sets in stakeholders management, communications, is highly organized and analytical, able to prioritize effectively with a strong bias to action to achieve strong commercial outcomes.

The individual is expected to drive business growth & profitability through key-actions such range management, suppliers negotiation, optimize campaign planning & execution, as well as being passionate in the groceries industry.

The role offers a high degree of autonomy and entrepreneurial activity to deliver the best range, value and service to our customers. The candidate will be considered a key member of the RedMart team and will report directly to the Category Director, Groceries.

The ideal candidate has superb business judgment with a desire to build and manage their own business. He/she must be able to work well in cross-functional teams to drive business goals. The must have good industry understanding of the grocery business, and ideally experience across multiple categories.

Responsibilities:

  • Hold full P&L accountability for the category, including revenue, margin, wastage, and supplier income.
  • Develop and implement effective category strategies covering pricing, promotions, assortment, availability, and cost management to drive both sales and profitability.
  • Manage relationships with existing suppliers, negotiating advertising investments and ensuring a consistent, efficient supply of goods to our fulfilment centre.
  • Collaborate with the Retail Operations team to optimise inventory levels and minimise wastage.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to expand sourcing and product range, ensuring customers have access to high-quality, great-value products.

Job Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience, preferably within the retail, buying, merchandising, or category management space.
  • Highly energetic, self-driven, and proactive, with a strong passion for e-commerce and groceries.
  • Proven negotiation and vendor management skills, with the ability to build and sustain strategic partnerships.
  • Good leadership and people management abilities, capable of motivating and developing a small team (1-2 members) to reach their full potential.
  • Meticulous with exceptional attention to detail, follow-up, and a fast-paced, responsive working style.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Highly analytical and confident working with large, complex data sets to support decision-making.
