Job Description

The Receiving Clerk manages the accurate and safe receipt of all food and non-food deliveries to the site, ensuring that every incoming item meets quality, temperature, and specification standards before it enters the supply chain. This role is the first line of defence in food safety and cost control.

  • Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery orders
  • Check the quality, quantity, temperature, and condition of all food deliveries, especially chilled and frozen items
  • Reject non-conforming deliveries (wrong items, incorrect quantities, temperature abuse, damaged packaging) and document rejections
  • Record all receiving data accurately in the inventory system and maintain physical delivery files
  • Label and transfer goods to correct storage areas (dry store, chiller, freezer) following FIFO rotation
  • Coordinate with the Unit Chef, Prep Cooks, and Account Manager on delivery schedules and shortages
  • Manage supplier relationships at the receiving dock maintain professional communication
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the receiving dock, dry store, and cold storage areas
  • Conduct daily stock level checks and flag low-stock items to the Unit Chef or Account Manager
  • Assist with monthly inventory stock takes and reconciliation of variances
