Role:
The Senior R&D Electrical Engineer is expected to operate with a high level of independence and play a leading role in guiding junior engineers while managing more complex and critical designs.
This role requires strong technical expertise and problem‑solving capabilities to deliver assigned tasks, mentor junior engineers, and drive the successful execution of engineering initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems, hardware, and components to meet project requirements, quality standards, and compliance obligations.
- Take ownership of assigned projects from concept to release, ensuring alignment with timelines, cost targets, and performance expectations in collaboration with project managers.
- Drive technical problem‑solving through analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization to balance cost, performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Participate in prototype build, system integration, and testing activities; develop and execute EE test plans, analyze results, and refine designs.
- Support sustaining and continuous improvement of released products throughout their full product lifecycle, including ECR and related PLM activities.
- Ensure comprehensive and accurate engineering documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and customer‑facing technical documents.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with global R&D teams and internal stakeholders such as Project Management, NPI, Production, Sourcing, SQ, QM, and Service.
- Provide technical leadership within the EE domain by making sound design decisions and promoting engineering best practices and safety standards.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing training on standards, guidelines, and quality expectations.
- Drive innovation initiatives, including new technology exploration and patent or invention disclosures.
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and ASMPT development guidelines.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant working experience.
- Knowledge of the SMT and PCBA industries and associated manufacturing processes.
- Strong expertise in circuit design, analog and digital electronics, power electronics, and electrical wiring.
- Proficiency with design and simulation tools such as PADS, ePLAN, HyperLynx, Active-HDL, and SPICE.
- Solid understanding of applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and compliance expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with practical, effective solutions.
- Experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, and resource coordination.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
