What a R&D Mechanical Development Engineer Does At HP
Deliver product and scanner design & assemblies to production on time, cost and to specification (functionality, reliability, safety & performance) helping the business accomplish its goals.
Develops and implements parameters and test plans for new and existing designs, including validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, electromagnetic interference, safety, reliability, developing fan curves, system power measurements & acoustics.
Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of mechanical concepts and principles.
Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
Generates process efficiencies and products that meet necessary business requirements through quality documentation and project management.
Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical knowledge and judgment.
Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:
Bachelor/master's degree in mechanical engineering.
Typically, 0-2 years experience.
Using Creo Parametric or other 3D CAD software as a mechanical design tool.
Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
Designing sheet metal and plastic parts and associated production tooling and processes.
Using CFD and thermal mockups to validate thermal solution.
Ability to effectively communicate design proposals and negotiate options.
