Job Description

Job Summary

The intern will support in-house water and wastewater analysis by performing laboratory testing using analytical instruments and wet chemistry methods.

This role provides hands-on experience in water quality analysis, including exposure to analytical research, method development, and validation to improve ongoing testing procedures. The intern will also gain familiarity with standard testing protocols such as EPA, APHA, and USEPA methods.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Analysis

  • Operate analytical instruments such as auto-titrator, ion chromatography (IC), inductively coupled plasma (ICP), and total organic carbon (TOC) analyzer
  • Perform wet chemistry testing, including filtration, sample digestion, and spectrophotometric analysis (e.g., Hach spectrometer)

Data Accuracy & Quality Control

  • Perform calibration of instruments and ensure accuracy and reliability of test results
  • Maintain consistency in testing procedures and ensure timely delivery of results

Lab Coordination & Support

  • Coordinate with lab researchers on sample submissions, testing status, and technical queries
  • Maintain laboratory records, including instrument logs, calibration records, chemical inventory, and sample tracking

Requirements

  • Undergraduate in Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or related disciplines
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and manage tight timelines
  • Hands-on experience in wet chemistry or analytical instruments is an advantage
  • Exposure to water analysis, wastewater treatment, or technical research writing is a plus
  • Proactive team player with strong collaboration skills
  • Good proficiency in English (written and spoken)
