Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

Collaborating with various teams to support ABB's operations, ensuring effective coordination and successful project completion within the defined timelines.
Assist in the design, modelling, and simulationof shipboard hybrid power systems (fuel cells, gensets, batteries, propulsion systems).
Explore and evaluate different power system architecturesfor vessel electrification.
Develop Matlab/Simulinkmodels for energy flows, load demands, efficiency curves, and dynamic system behavior.
Support the development of Python-based toolsfor energy system optimization and data analysis.
Perform simulation studiesto improve the overall energy efficiency and operational performance of hybrid-powered vessels.
Analyze simulation results and prepare technical reports, presentations, and design recommendations.
Participate in hands-on testing, prototype evaluation, and engineering experiments when
required.
Qualifications for the role
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
Strong academic performancewith solid theoretical knowledge in power systems, energy conversion, or control systems.
Experience with Matlab / Simulinkfor modelling and simulation.
Familiarity with Python programmingfor data processing or algorithm development.
Strong interest in new technologies, marine electrification, renewable energy, and hybrid propulsion concepts.
Curious, self-motivated, and willing to learn through both analytical and hands-on engineering activities.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative R&D environment.
