Job Summary
Join Hong Aik Engineering as a Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor Manager to manage budgets, prepare estimates, negotiate contracts, and collaborate with project teams to deliver construction projects within budget and to high standards.
Responsibilities
- Review construction plans to prepare accurate quantity requirements for projects
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets aligned with client specifications and project scope
- Administer contract terms, including managing variations and claims to protect company interests
- Review contract documents to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements
- Monitor project costs continuously against budgets and implement cost control measures throughout project lifecycle
- Conduct cost analyses and prepare comprehensive progress reports for stakeholders
- Analyze maintenance and material costs to identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure value for money
- Source and obtain competitive quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to optimize procurement
- Track material usage and coordinate timely ordering to maintain project schedules
- Liaise effectively with project managers, site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors to facilitate smooth project execution
- Advise managers and clients on cost improvements and procurement strategies to enhance project outcomes
- Document design changes promptly and update budgets to reflect revisions accurately
- Assist in the tender process by evaluating submissions and negotiating contracts to secure favourable terms
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support project success
- Travel to various project sites as required to oversee quantity surveying activities and support teams
Required competencies and certifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying or related roles
- Proficiency in Excel, cost estimation software, and project management tools
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to organize, plan, and strategize effectively under tight deadlines
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, engineering, management, or a related field
- Experience in construction estimating
Working Hours:
- 5.5 days per week
- Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 5.30pm
- Saturday: 8.30am to 1pm
