Job Summary
You will prepare cost estimates, manage tender processes, and provide commercial advice to ensure projects meet budget and contractual requirements. Collaborate with clients and contractors to control costs and support project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Prepare preliminary cost estimates and cost plans based on conceptual or schematic designs to guide project budgeting
- Provide cost advice to support design development and ensure alignment with client budgets
- Advise on appropriate procurement strategies such as traditional and Design & Build methods
- Prepare tender documents and manage the tender process to secure project contracts
- Participate in value engineering workshops and deliver cost-impact analyses to optimize project value
- Assist in contract negotiation and award to ensure favorable terms and compliance
- Monitor project cost performance and maintain cost control systems for financial accuracy
- Conduct regular site visits to evaluate progress claims and issue payment recommendations
- Assess contract variations and maintain updated cost reports and cash flow projections
- Provide monthly cost reports, financial statements, and updates to clients and consultants
- Prepare, negotiate, and settle final accounts with contractors to close out projects
- Attend project meetings and provide timely commercial and contractual advice to stakeholders
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Recognised Bachelor's Degree in Building, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent from recognised universities
- Preferably minimum 2 years of relevant quantity surveying experience with private and public sector clients
- Knowledge of SIA and PSSCOC forms of contract is advantageous
- Experience working in a consultancy firm is an advantage
- Good technical knowledge in measurement, cost estimating, and construction technology
- Understanding of professional practice and contract administration processes
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and manage multiple ongoing projects
- Resourceful, independent, responsible, and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
