Job Summary
Lead and manage project-specific Quality Assurance and Control activities during construction, ensuring compliance with standards and client requirements through training, inspections, audits, and effective communication.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver project-specific Quality training to production Supervisors and Sub-contractors QC personnel to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Develop and establish Work Procedures and Instructions to standardize quality processes
- Support the QA/QC Manager in establishing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Tests (WQT)
- Lead QA/QC activities for the entire project during the construction phase, ensuring quality assurance and control objectives are met
- Supervise Inspectors performance to monitor workmanship quality and adherence to project standards
- Update inspection status and maintain accurate daily quality records to track progress and issues
- Participate in weekly client progress reviews, internal meetings, and Sub-Contractors meetings to address and resolve quality issues
- Liaise with clients on project-specific quality matters to maintain alignment and satisfaction
- Prepare and maintain weekly Weld Rejection Rate summaries to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Monitor, manage, and close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for the project, maintaining a comprehensive NCR register
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in welding inspections for structural and piping fabrication, including Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
- Certified in CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI or equivalent ASNT Level II certification in Radiographic Testing (RT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Experience conducting project audits and liaising with internal and external auditors
- Knowledge of structural fabrication, piping isometric drawings, and materials
- Proficient in piping line walk and reinstatement inspections through clear interpretation of isometric drawings
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels to foster teamwork
