Our client is one of the world's leading manufacturers of specialty food ingredients, with operations spanning more than 40 countries. As part of its continued growth across the Asia-Pacific region, the company is seeking an experienced Quality and Design Manager to join its regional corporate office in Singapore's Central Business District.
This role is responsible for driving the implementation of Food Safety and Quality by Design (FSQR) across the regional dry ingredients as the main portfolio. You are to ensure that the new product development, as well as product and process changes, are designed, assessed, validated, and implemented in accordance with global standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Deployment & Regional Leadership
- Implement the global Food Safety and Quality by Design strategy across the region, aligning with business priorities and customer needs.
- Serve as the regional subject matter expert for FSQR across dry ingredients compound, and related product categories.
- Champion the consistent application of Quality by Design methodologies and preventive, risk-based approaches throughout product development.
- Foster a First Time Right mindset by integrating quality and food safety considerations from the earliest design stages.
New Product Development & Stage-Gate Governance
- Represent FSQR as a key stakeholder in regional NPI and stage-gate reviews.
- Ensure food safety, quality, regulatory, and customer requirements are incorporated from concept through commercialization.
- Collaborate with R&D and Commercial teams to develop practical, compliant, and customer-focused solutions.
- Ensure projects are supported by comprehensive risk assessments, validation plans, and post-launch evaluations.
Change Management
- Lead FSQR activities for product and process changes, applying structured Quality by Design principles.
- Ensure all changes undergo thorough risk assessment, validation, documentation, and governance.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to assess impacts on manufacturing, raw materials, product specifications, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide guidance and risk mitigation strategies for complex or high-impact changes.
Stakeholder, Customer & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with R&D, Commercial, Operations, and FSQR teams to align objectives and drive effective decision-making.
- Translate FSQR requirements into practical guidance, balancing technical, commercial, and operational needs.
- Apply category expertise and customer insights to deliver safe, compliant, and high-performing products.
- Build strong regional and global partnerships to ensure consistent execution, share best practices, and adapt solutions to local market requirements.
Governance, Risk & Capability Development
- Lead regional FSQR governance, ensuring compliance with food safety, regulatory, customer, and internal standards.
- Drive risk assessments, validation, and mitigation activities to support robust product and process decisions.
- Maintain oversight of medium- and high-risk projects with appropriate documentation and governance.
- Build FSQR capability through training, coaching, and continuous improvement, fostering a First Time Right and proactive risk management culture.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
- Strong technical expertise in dry ingredients compound, or similar food categories.
- Demonstrated experience in new product development, stage-gate governance, and change management.
- Solid knowledge of FSQR systems, regulatory requirements, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Customer-facing or commercially aligned experience is advantageous.
- Experience with audits, certifications, and regulatory compliance is preferred.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are beneficial.
- Willingness to travel as required.
