Role Description
A QA Engineer / Test Engineer / Automation Test Engineer ensures the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications by designing, executing, and automating test cases. This role works closely with development teams to detect and resolve defects, optimize testing processes, and maintain high-quality software releases.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test scripts
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and performance testing
- Identify, report, and track software defects using bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail)
- Collaborate with developers and product managers to ensure quality standards
- Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks and tools
- Validate software against requirements and business rules
- Analyze test results and provide actionable insights for improvement
- Maintain documentation for test plans, cases, and procedures
- Stay updated on testing methodologies, tools, and industry best practices
Qualifications
Typical qualifications for these roles include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field
- 25 years of experience in software testing or QA engineering
- Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, JUnit, TestNG)
- Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.)
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
