Job Purpose
We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing IB PYP Homeroom Teacher to take full ownership of a specific grade level. As the primary mentor and educator for your assigned class, you will deliver a high-quality inquiry-based curriculum, manage the holistic well-being of your students, and serve as the main point of contact for parents.
Core Responsibilities
Dedicated Class Instruction: Lead the delivery of the core curriculum-including English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies-ensuring all learning outcomes are met for your specific grade.
IB PYP Planning: Lead the collaborative writing of Unit Planners (pre, during, and post-unit). Ensure all unit documentation and student work samples are meticulously maintained.
Weekly Collaboration: Participate in and lead weekly planning meetings with grade-level peers and specialist teachers to ensure curriculum alignment.
Pastoral Care & PSPE: Responsible for the social-emotional well-being of your homeroom students, delivering PSPE (Personal, Social, and Physical Education) and Drama/Theatre Arts outcomes.
Communication: Act as the primary bridge between school and home. This includes sending UOI (Unit of Inquiry) letters, contributing to newsletters, and conducting Parent-Teacher and Student-Led Conferences.
Assessment & Reporting: Conduct formative and summative assessments to guide lesson planning. Complete two comprehensive semester reports per year.
Events & Activities: Prepare your homeroom for unit assemblies, the annual PYP Exhibition, one school-wide event coordination, and lead one CCA (Co-Curricular Activity) per week.
Requirements and Skills
Educational Credentials: Bachelor's Degree in Education or a relevant field professional teaching certification (PGDE/B.Ed) is preferred.
IB Framework Knowledge: Proven experience or strong theoretical understanding of the IB PYP and Inquiry-Based Learning, preferred.
Differentiation: Demonstrated ability to apply Differentiated Instruction to support a diverse range of student needs within a single classroom.
Collaborative Mindset: A team player who can mentor others and reflect honestly on their own teaching practice to meet career goals.
Organizational Excellence: Ability to manage the administrative side of a homeroom (reporting, planning, and documentation) with high-quality output and punctuality.
