Purchasing Manager (Global Electronics Distributor)

My client is a leading global distributor in the electronic components space, specializing in integrated circuits (ICs), semiconductors, and passives. The business partners closely with manufacturers and franchise distributors to provide customers with critical parts, market intelligence, and supply chain solutions. With a strong regional presence in Singapore and operations worldwide, it plays a key role in connecting suppliers and customers, driving value through strategic sourcing, supplier development, and procurement expertise.

The Purchasing Manager plays a critical role in the Sourcing and Procurement organization. This role will lead a team of buyers to conduct sourcing and purchasing activities on behalf of the company. The Manager will drive on-going professional development, coaching, and training of the buyers, develop and manage relationships with suppliers in their geography, partner with sales to ensure that purchasing processes are in place to meet the ever-changing needs of customers, and to deliver to performance goals and KPIs. As needed, the Manager will work globally with the Sourcing and Procurement staff to development, manage, and deliver against key strategic initiatives both at the regional and global levels. While the role managers a regional team of buyers, the team supports the entire global sales organization across Asia, North America, and Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

• Bring deep expertise in procuring electronic components (e.g., passives, ICs) and commodities (memory, CPU, storage).
• Identify and support the qualification of potential in-region suppliers in partnership with global commodity and supplier development teams.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure performance meets company expectations.
• Lead and support a team of buyers in the full purchasing cycle, including purchase order issuance and management, expediting and tracking orders, ensuring documentation accuracy, handling customer and internal escalations
• Provide direction on sourcing strategies for customer requirements and allocate workload to maximize team strengths.
• Determine team coverage and resource planning.
• Oversee onboarding and ongoing training for buyers, including technical and market knowledge development in coordination with global commodity management.
• Foster a positive, high-performance team environment through coaching and mentorship.
• Assist with gathering and reporting market intelligence such as commodity and cost trends.
• Drive continuous process improvements based on internal feedback.
• Support special projects assigned by the VP of Global Sourcing/Procurement.
• Contribute to the development and execution of procurement and supply chain strategies.
• Support customer engagement activities as required.
• Work closely with sales, warehouse, quality, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to resolve issues promptly.

Job Requirements:

• 710 years of sourcing or purchasing experience in electronic components, commodities, and supplier management.
• Strong understanding of the electronic components supply chain from manufacturers to distributors/brokers to OEMs.
• At least 4 years of leadership or managerial experience in procurement or sourcing.
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, procurement, business, finance, engineering, or related fields.
