Job Summary
Reporting to the HOD - Purchasing Department, you will manage supplier relationships, optimize purchasing processes, and ensure timely, compliant procurement to support cost-effective fire protection projects.
Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate new suppliers and subcontractors to secure high-quality materials and services at competitive prices
- Negotiate pricing and contract terms to maximize value and maintain strong vendor partnerships
- Analyze material and tool quotes to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve purchasing strategies
- Issue purchase orders accurately and coordinate timely deliveries to meet project schedules
- Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supply without excess stock
- Track and monitor spending against project budgets to support financial control
- Ensure all purchasing documentation complies with ISO standards and supports internal audit requirements
- Prepare procurement reports for management to inform decision-making and project oversight
Required competencies and certifications
- Minimum 2 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in construction or engineering
- Proficient negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills demonstrated through successful supplier engagements
- Detail-oriented with analytical skills applied to cost comparison and forecasting
- Familiarity with ISO documentation standards, inventory control processes, and building/construction purchasing requirements
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Relevant purchasing or procurement certifications are advantageous but not mandatory
