Title: Purchasing & Planning Manager – Global Medical Device MNC
Location: Singapore
Our client is a global medical device MNC.
They are seeking a Purchasing & Planning Manager to lead end-to-end material execution, demand alignment, and supplier performance for our medical device business.
Reporting directly to the Planning & Material Director, the role will manage a focused team of buyer/planners, driving effective team structure, material availability, and supply agility.
This role is pivotal in resolving execution-horizon bottlenecks, driving inventory reduction initiatives, and ensuring high-precision, compliant manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate directly with vendors to secure required delivery dates and resolve escalated execution-horizon issues (expediting or de-expediting orders as demand shifts).
- Conduct regular demand reviews with key suppliers to identify future supply risks early and drive initiatives that enhance supplier agility and responsiveness.
- Drive inventory optimization strategies (e.g., consignment, VMI, Safety Stock reviews) to minimize working capital while safeguarding against stockouts.
- Collaborate with Engineering and NPI teams to manage material readiness for New Product Introductions, engineering change orders (ECOs), and technology transfers.
- Provide clear, real-time visibility of material constraints, supplier delivery changes, and operational bottlenecks to cross-functional planning and production teams.
- Lead and support strategic project initiatives, with a primary focus on Inventory Reduction and optimized stock health without compromising production continuity.
- Support technology transfers, engineering change orders (ECOs), and new product introductions (NPIs).
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 6–8 years of hands-on experience in procurement, material planning, or supply chain management, exposure to Medical Device, Electronics or Semiconductor industry would be highly advantageous.
- Direct supervisory/team leadership experience would be mandatory.
- Proven capability in execution-horizon material management (expediting/de-expediting), driving supplier demand reviews, and leading inventory reduction projects.
- Strong working knowledge of major ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or Navision) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or Lean Six Sigma certifications (Green/Black Belt) are highly advantageous.
