Our client, an international organization in the defence sector, is seeking a Purchaser (Two-year Contract) to join its team in Singapore.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Within the Procurement and Supply Chain Department, the Purchaser is responsible for managing assigned procurement activities to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and compliant acquisition of materials and services. Working closely with the Procurement & Supplier Relationship Manager, the role supports sourcing, supplier relationship management, and end-to-end procurement activities to meet business and project requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Purchasing & Operations

• Execute sourcing activities, conduct market research, and evaluate supplier quotes based on cost, quality, and delivery.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms within delegated authority.
• Handle the complete purchase-to-delivery lifecycle, including PO issuance, logistics tracking, and expediting delayed orders.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to align procurement with technical project needs.
• Ensure all purchasing complies with company procedures, export controls, and budget limits.

Supplier & Performance Management

• Maintain strong working relationships with assigned vendors and support their onboarding process.
• Resolve vendor issues regarding pricing, shortages, delays, and documentation.
• Monitor supplier quality and delivery performance using scorecards and support corrective action investigations when needed.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Business, or equivalent.
• Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on purchasing experience, preferably in engineering, manufacturing, marine, or defence sectors.
• Proficiency in SAP and MS Excel.
• Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Immediate or short-notice availability is highly preferred due to the contract nature.
