Job Summary
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods and services, ensuring cost-effective purchasing strategies, reliable supplier relationships, and timely delivery to support organizational operations. This role manages purchasing staff, negotiates contracts, and ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with company goals
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery performance
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors
- Manage purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials and services
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with operations to prevent shortages or overstock
- Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and applicable laws
- Lead, train, and evaluate purchasing staff
- Resolve supplier disputes and performance issues
- Prepare and manage purchasing budgets and reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities
- Proficiency in ERP and purchasing systems
- Knowledge of inventory management and logistics principles
- At least 5 years in managerial position
