As part of Vertical Institute's Public Relations Manager, you will play a key role in developing and executing earned media strategies that strengthen VI's position as one of Singapore's leading edtech and adult-learning institutions.
You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to shape impactful narratives around upskilling, digital transformation, and career mobility to drive strong brand visibility and public awareness.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Communications & Earned Media
- Develop and implement earned media strategies for programme launches, student/alumni stories, graduation ceremonies, employer partnerships, and brand campaigns
- Identify edtech, workforce, and industry trends to inform proactive storytelling and media positioning
- Secure compelling media coverage that strengthens VI's brand presence and market leadership
Media Relations & Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with education, business, career, and lifestyle journalists, editors, and influencers
- Manage media queries promptly and craft strategic responses that reinforce the institute's credibility
- Conceptualise and coordinate media engagement activities, including press briefings, interview opportunities, campus visits, and event coverage
Campaigns, Events & Partnerships
- Collaborate with instructor and student admissions teams to develop communication strategies for open houses, education fairs, partner activations, and community initiatives
- Lead the Public Relation components of major institutional events and ensure consistent messaging across all channels
Reputation Management
- Monitor media sentiment and emerging issues within the education and skills-development landscape
- Pre-emptively identify potential Public Relation risks and support in managing communications during sensitive situations
- Provide insights and recommendations to leadership on reputation-related matters
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders including government agencies, corporate partners, industry associations, and community organisations to develop cohesive communication plans
- Participate in cross-departmental projects to support institutional growth and strategic initiatives
Requirements
- Relevant Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related disciplines
- Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience, preferably including Public Relations/communications agency or edtech/education sector experience
- Strong writing, storytelling, and messaging skills; bilingual proficiency is an advantage
- Excellent project management and organisational abilities

- Able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
