The mission of the Singapore Police Force is to prevent, deter and detect crime. We do this by working in partnership with the community to protect life and property, prevent crime and disorder, detect and apprehend offenders, and preserve a sense of security.
The PTU of the Special Operations Command (SOC) is responsible for maintaining public order in times of riots and demonstrations as well as neutralising threats in armed attack situations.
As a PTU officer, you will belong to this formidable force, dedicated to quelling any civil disorders and quash threats to public security. We will equip you with tactical and firearms skills, unarmed tactics and specialised skills to handle public order and public security incidents to enable you to get the job done.
What You Will Be Working On
Candidates who pass the selection process will embark on Police Tactical Course.
- Shortlisted PTU candidates will be placed on a 3-month temporary contract and undergo a 3-month residential Police Tactical Course in August 2026.
- Candidates who pass the Police Tactical Course will be emplaced onto the permanent scheme and embark on a 3-month non-residential Armed Strike Team Course.
What We Are Looking For
To be an PTU trooper, you must be tenacious, resilient and be mentally and physically strong. You must also possess the ability to work in a team to achieve a common goal.
Pre-requisites
- Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Male and female applicants can apply. Male applicants must be PES A or B1L1
- At least 5 GCE O Level credits or NITEC
- Normal colour vision
- Serving PNSFs may apply
Candidates who pass the Direct-Entry Sergeant PTU recruitment process will be invited for a 1-day physical screening test on 13 April 2026 and 17 April 2026.
