Job Description

The Community Psychology Hub (CPH) is dedicated to improving people's lives through innovative, quality psychological and research services. We work in active collaboration with partners in the social service and public sector to provide care for persons with vulnerabilities alongside their families in the community. Set up by the Ministry of Social and Family Development in 2015, we are a unit sited within SG Enable Ltd, a registered charity and an Institution of a Public Character.

You will be deployed to a SSA for 4 days a week to provide innovative and quality psychological care to our clients and their families in the Development Support (DS) and Learning Support (LS) Programme (DSLS). Working in a multi-disciplinary setting, you will also conduct psychoeducational programmes and training for other professionals to enable quality care and services.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct Psychological Assessments

  • Coordinate and conduct formal and informal psychological assessments, including standardised tests e.g., school placement assessments (SPAs)

  • Prepare assessment reports for routine cases

  • Conduct intake assessments to determine child's strengths and needs, and/or regular assessments for progress monitoring

2. Deliver Intervention

  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team comprising teachers and other professionals such as social workers and speech therapists to co-develop and implement evidence-based and data-driven intervention plans (such as emotional and behaviour management, and social skills training), as well as to conduct home visits when necessary

  • Deliver short-term direct intervention work for children at various centres throughout the year, working closely with various stakeholders

3. Deliver psychological programmes and services. This may include:

  • Guide staff and parents/caregivers in implementing emotional, learning and behavioural evidence-based interventions, customised to the needs of individual child

  • Maintain timely and accurate records of students and to maintain regular contact with the child's family when required

  • Conduct transitional planning from one educational setting to another

  • Provide intervention for caregivers, where needed

4. Build stakeholder relationships or capacity

  • Provide evidence-based input for program/policy improvements

  • Provide consultation for parents, teachers, caregivers and other stakeholders to improve child outcomes as well as enhance the child's learning and development

5. Uplift professional practice in psychology

  • Assist in the delivery of training programmes as part of continuing professional development

  • Deliver psychoeducation programmes for staff and caregivers

  • Identify areas of improvement in models of client care and services based on evidence-based practices

  • Perform data collection and analysis to support research e.g., programme evaluation for new initiatives/programs introduced in the SSA

  • Provide guidance to peers and interns

  • Attain SRP status or its equivalent (within first two years of appointment as Psychologist)

  • Assist in the delivery of training (clinical seminars, clinical workshops) for psychologists and/or other professionals in the social service sector

  • Present, facilitate and participate in CPH professional development platforms for knowledge-sharing and to hone clinical skills

6. Administrative Duties

  • Attend and assist with group meetings, chair and/or present at the meetings when necessary

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of SSA activities as assigned

  • Attend CPH meetings and events when necessary

  • Prepare and submit reports e.g., monthly KPI tracking as required

  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer or Management for the SSA/CPH

7. Self-development

  • Attend CPH/SSA endorsed training/workshops/seminars so as to develop relevant knowledge and skills

  • Receive formal supervision from CPH's approved supervisors as part of professional development

Requirements

1. Educational qualifications

  • A minimum of a Master's degree in applied psychology (e.g., Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology) from an accredited university. The programme must include a supervised practicum and supervised training in psychological assessments

  • Eligibility for Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) (Full Membership) and Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP) registration

2. Experience

  • Experience in clinical settings and/or working with/in SSAs will be an advantage

3. Other qualities

  • Effective interpersonal skills

  • Good psychological report writing skills

  • Able to work in multi-disciplinary team

  • Fluency in local languages and familiarity with the local context will be an advantage
