Join a dynamic team as a Functional Prosthetist, where you'll provide comprehensive care in upper limb prosthetics, enhancing patient outcomes through expert fitting services and collaborative practices.
Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-and post-prosthetic counselling, evaluating patient conditions and recommending appropriate prostheses in a clinical setting. Fabricate, produce, and fit high-quality prostheses for upper limb amputations, ensuring follow-up and repair of worn or damaged devices. Expand services by providing functional prostheses for various levels of hand amputations, including: Multiple amputations through distal interphalangeal joints and phalanges: passive functional and body-powered prostheses Amputations through metacarpophalangeal joints and transmetacarpals: body-powered and externally powered prostheses Thumb amputations: body-powered prostheses Below elbow amputation: body and externally powered prostheses Manage the operational excellence of a self-contained prosthetic laboratory to ensure seamless service delivery. Conduct inventory management and oversee department operational performance. Ensure compliance with medico-legal requirements, work safety regulations, and service quality standards. Lead and manage service and program excellence initiatives. Develop policies and procedures for effective operations and service delivery. Mentor staff and manage team performance to enhance operational efficiency. Lead academic or research studies within the department as needed. Participate in continuous patient service improvement and risk management initiatives. Provide mentorship to medical students if required. Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements
- Minimum a Degree in Science with a postgraduate certificate in Prosthetics a Master's degree in Science is preferred. 2-3 years of clinical experience in producing and fitting prostheses. Preferred experience in research and development in prosthetics, particularly functional devices. Strong ability to collaborate effectively with medical professionals and colleagues. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
