Job Summary
A Project Quantity Surveyor manages the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects, ensuring budgets are maintained from design through to completion.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates from blueprints and specifications to assess project financial viability
- Create Bills of Quantities (BoQ) listing all materials and work items to enable accurate contractor bids
- Manage procurement and tendering processes by selecting contractors and subcontractors and evaluating bids for competitiveness and technical suitability
- Draft, negotiate, and administer contracts, manage variations, and resolve contractual disputes to maintain project compliance
- Conduct site visits to verify work progress and certify payments to contractors based on completed work value
- Reconcile all costs, variations, and payments to finalize construction project accounts
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying or construction cost management
- Strong negotiation skills applied to supplier and contractor interactions
- Attention to detail to identify financial risks and ensure accurate cost control
- Analytical thinking to resolve complex cost-related issues
- Experience or background in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works
- Ability to work effectively as a team player
