Job purpose
The Project Planner is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules, manpower plans, and resource allocation to ensure projects are executed efficiently and completed within the planned timeline. This role supports project teams by providing accurate planning data, analysis, and progress tracking.
Key Responsibilities
1) Manpower Planning & Scheduling
Develop detailed weekly and monthly baseline manpower allocation schedules with using manpower request order form respective project team using planning tools (e.g., MS. Project)
Update and revise manpower allocation schedules based on respective project progress, delays, or changes.
Prepare weekly and monthly schedule reports for internal meetings.
2) Manpower Allocation & Resource Planning
Work with Project Admin to prepare manpower loading charts for each stage of the project by respective Project Admin.
Coordinate with HR to allocate manpower based on project demands.
Monitor site manpower usage and highlight shortages or excess.
Forecast future manpower requirements based on project progress and upcoming phases.
Analyse labour productivity and recommend improvements.
3) Progress Monitoring & Reporting
Track actual site progress against planned schedules.
Identify critical path activities and propose recovery plans where needed.
Prepare progress S-curves, histograms, and dashboards.
Conduct weekly coordination with site teams to gather updates.
Report schedule risks, delays, and mitigation strategies to the Project Manager
4) Coordination & Documentation
Coordinate with project teams (engineering, procurement, construction) for planning input.
Support tender teams with schedule planning for new bid submissions.
Maintain planning documentation, revisions, and approval records.
Attend internal and external progress meetings.
5) Ad-hoc duty assigned by managers.
Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in project planning or scheduling roles (construction/M&E preferred).
1) Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of planning software (Primavera P6 / MS Project).
Good understanding of construction sequencing and site operations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in MS Excel (charts, formulas, reporting).
Good communication and coordination skills.
