Job Description

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NTU conducts interdisciplinary research in sustainable construction, digital fabrication, and data-driven engineering. The team works at the interface of materials, manufacturing, and computational analysis to develop innovative solutions for the built environment.

We are looking for a Project Officer to support a research project on data-driven evaluation of material formulations for 3D concrete printing. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a structured benchmarking framework for analysing relationships between material composition, printing parameters, and performance outcomes.

The role supports NTU's broader research mission in sustainable and digitally enabled engineering by helping to improve the quality, consistency, and usefulness of research data for construction materials innovation. The Project Officer will work closely with the Principal Investigator on data collection, analysis, documentation, and experimental support for the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature review on 3D concrete printing materials, printability, buildability, and related material performance indicators.

  • Compile, organise, and clean research data from journal publications and other approved sources.

  • Support the development and maintenance of a structured database for material composition, process parameters, and performance outcomes.

  • Assist with data documentation, including data definitions, assumptions, and data processing procedures.

  • Support data analysis and baseline modelling work under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.

  • Assist in identifying trends and relationships between formulation variables and printing performance.

  • Support experimental activities such as sample preparation, 3D printing trials, laboratory testing, and data recording when required.

  • Prepare figures, summaries, presentations, and draft materials for reports, publications, and project meetings.

  • Maintain proper documentation, record keeping, and compliance with laboratory safety and research data management requirements.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and laboratory personnel to support project activities and timelines.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the research project.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Experience in research, data analysis, or construction/material-related projects is preferred.

  • Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, R, or machine learning workflows will be advantageous.

  • Experience in literature review, data handling, and technical reporting is desirable.

  • Candidates should have good analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Able to work both independently and in a team.

We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
