As a Project Manager- Strategic Initiatives within Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will lead high‑impact, cross‑functional initiatives that directly advance our mission to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. You will drive complex projects from concept through execution, ensuring delivery against defined scope, timelines, budget, and quality objectives. In this strategic role, you will partner closely with leaders, technical experts, and global stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable project plans and enable successful outcomes in a dynamic matrix environment.

Your ability to navigate ambiguity, influence without authority, and bring structure to complex challenges will be essential in achieving operational excellence and accelerating scientific progress for our customers around the world.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead end‑to‑end management of complex, cross‑functional projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and organizational strategy.
  • Develop, manage, and communicate comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders at all levels to drive project execution, remove roadblocks, and ensure transparent communication across teams.
  • Facilitate decision‑making by providing clear analysis, status updates, and data‑driven recommendations.
  • Champion project governance standards, best practices, and continuous improvement methodologies to advance organizational efficiency.
  • Manage project risks proactively, implementing corrective actions and contingency plans when needed.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and high‑performance team behaviors.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and quality standards (GMP/GLP, ISO, etc.).
  • Represent the project function in cross‑business initiatives, strategic discussions, and operational planning sessions.
  • Support portfolio management activities, including prioritization, resource forecasting, and performance tracking.



REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced Degree + 3 years of project management experience, OR Bachelor's Degree + 5+ years leading complex, cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Preferred academic background in Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • PMP certification or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification a plus.
  • Demonstrated mastery of project management methodologies, frameworks, and tools.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence in a matrixed, fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage at all organizational levels.
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, dependencies, risks, and cross‑team expectations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities with acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and deliver results under pressure.
  • Business acumen and strategic mindset with a track record of driving operational excellence.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira).
  • Experience in regulated industries (pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech) preferred.
  • Knowledge of GMP/GLP, ISO, and related quality frameworks preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Proficiency in English required additional languages a plus.
