  • This position is for Office of Integrated Information Technology Services (IITS).
  • Project Management & Execution:
    • End-to-End Oversight: Manage the full project lifecycle from conceptualization and design to installation, testing, and commissioning (T&C) for Smart Classrooms, Meeting Rooms, and Auditoriums.
    • Develop detailed project plans, scopes of work, schedule and budget estimates based on project requirements.
    • Engagement with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and translating them into technical specifications
    • Vendor Management: Supervise external contractors and system integrators to ensure adherence to technical specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
    • Monitor and track project progress and activities and identify risks or delays early and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track
    • Budgetary Control: Monitor project expenditures, evaluate vendor quotations, and ensure all installations are delivered within the approved budget.
    • Coordinate procurement and invoicing activities
    • Oversee system testing, commissioning, user training, and final project handoff
    • Oversee the preparation and delivery of project documentation, including OMM manuals, as-built drawings, schematics and assets creation.
  • Technical Design & Innovation:
    • System Design: Develop technical blueprints for hybrid-ready environments, including the integration of LED walls, beamforming ceiling microphones, and prompter systems.
    • Platform Integration: Ensure seamless interoperability between hardware and software platforms, specifically Zoom Rooms (for classrooms/events) and Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) for corporate spaces.
    • User Experience (UX): Collaborate with academic and administrative stakeholders to ensure AV solutions are intuitive for faculty and staff.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
    • Commissioning: Conduct rigorous User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure audio clarity (Acoustics), visual fidelity, and stable hybrid connectivity.
    • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project records, including As-Built drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and user manuals for the SMU knowledge base.
  • Maintain and support the daily operation of University IT/AV equipment in classrooms, schools, library, and offices. Ensure the smooth operations of all IT-enabled equipment and related systems in all SMU's classrooms, laboratories and teaching spaces
  • Assist Senior Assistant Director to gather requirements, coordinate and liaise with vendors as well as end-users to deliver new or enhanced systems. Establish and maintain client-user liaison.
  • Lead the solution sourcing, experimentation, and evaluation, then providing recommendations and writing justification to enhance pedagogy in SMU.
  • Lead in development and preparation of user documentation, client support procedures, and workflow and service level agreement.
  • Work closely with Senior Assistant Director in managing the team's administration matters.
  • Provide training to staff, faculty and students on the usage of AV equipment in the classrooms, meeting rooms, project rooms.
  • Responsible for managing all assets deployed in classrooms and university teaching spaces
  • Provide real-time technical support during classes, meetings, and events.
  • Collaborate closely with academic staff, event organizers, and IT colleagues.
  • Ensure compliance with university AV standards and IT policies.
  • Any other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, AV Technology, IT, or a related field.
  • Degree with at least 5 years of work experience or Diploma with at least 7 years of work experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., AVIXA, PMP, CTS) and experience working in a higher education environment are advantages.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale AV deployment projects
  • Strong knowledge of AV signal flow, display systems, microphones, and speakers
  • Familiarity HDMI/SDI, and AV over IP technologies
  • Understanding of classroom AV integration, including lecture capture and hybrid setups
  • Experience in operating, maintaining, and designing control systems (such as Crestron, Extron, QSC) would be an added advantage
