Project Manager (Construction Sector)

Job Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects from planning to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with client requirements and Singapore regulatory standards. The role involves coordination with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, site teams, and government authorities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Management

  • Lead and manage overall project execution and site operations
  • Develop project schedules, work programs, and manpower planning
  • Monitor project progress to ensure timely completion
  • Coordinate construction activities according to project requirements and specifications
  • Ensure effective allocation of manpower, materials, equipment, and resources

2. Site Coordination & Supervision

  • Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Attend site meetings, technical discussions, and coordination meetings
  • Resolve site issues, technical problems, and operational challenges
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and work quality
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and site organization

3. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety and health regulations
  • Enforce company safety policies and site safety requirements
  • Coordinate with WSH personnel regarding risk assessments and safety measures
  • Ensure compliance with BCA, MOM, LTA, and other authority requirements
  • Participate in incident investigation and corrective actions when required

4. Cost Control & Budget Management

  • Monitor project budget, variation orders, and project expenses
  • Review project costing and ensure cost-effective operations
  • Track material usage and equipment utilization
  • Coordinate with QS and procurement team on project purchasing and claims
  • Prepare project progress reports and cost analysis

5. Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, main contractors, and authorities
  • Maintain good client relationships and handle project-related communication
  • Ensure project deliverables meet client expectations and contractual requirements
  • Attend progress meetings and provide project updates

6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and submit project reports, work progress updates, and schedules
  • Review method statements, drawings, and technical documents
  • Ensure proper documentation of site records, inspections, and approvals
  • Maintain project correspondence and filing records

7. Team Leadership

  • Lead and supervise project team members
  • Provide guidance and support to engineers and site staff
  • Monitor staff performance and productivity
  • Promote teamwork and efficient communication across departments

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Minimum relevant experience in construction/project management
  • Familiar with Singapore construction regulations and site practices
  • Strong leadership and coordination skills
  • Good communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Able to work under pressure and meet project deadlines

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in civil, structural steel, ERSS, lifting, or infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of BCA, MOM, and LTA requirements
  • Familiar with project planning and scheduling software
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings and technical specifications
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multiple site activities
