Job Description

Overview

We are looking for a creative, people-first Project Manager to join our Data Science & Analytics (DS&A) Department. This is not a role for task-chasers or process enforcers. You will work closely with the Head of DS&A, project leads, and project in-charges to build and run a lightweight PMO that gives every engagement clarity, momentum, and a confident client experience. You will own stakeholder and client communications, translate complex AI and data science work into compelling business narratives, and lead data and digital transformation projects end-to-end. If you thrive on bringing order to ambiguity — without killing the creative energy that makes great work happen — this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

1.PMO Setup & Project Governance

  • Partner with the Head of DS&A to design and run a fit-for-purpose PMO across the DS&A project portfolio — gathering structured inputs from project leads and project in-charges to build realistic plans, surface dependencies early, and maintain a single source of truth on delivery status.
  • Own project artefacts that teams actually use — charters, delivery plans, RACI matrices, risk registers, and decision logs — built collaboratively, not filed away in a folder nobody opens.
  • Design lightweight governance rituals: structured check-ins, milestone reviews, and retrospectives that help teams move faster, not slower.

2.Stakeholder & Client Communications

  • Serve as the communications hub between the DS&A team, internal stakeholders, and clients — creating alignment across parties without anyone needing to chase or be chased for updates.
  • Design and deliver client-facing presentations that translate complex AI, data science, and analytics deliverables into clear, credible business narratives for non-technical executives and decision-makers.
  • Own proactive communication: surface risks early, frame tradeoffs honestly, and keep clients confident in delivery — turning project transparency into a competitive advantage.

3. Data & Digital Transformation Project Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of data transformation and digital transformation engagements — from discovery and scoping through to go-live and post-implementation review — in close collaboration with Data Architects, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists.
  • Act as the delivery face alongside technical leads on client engagements: own the relationship, manage scope, and propose creative solutions when blockers arise rather than defaulting to escalation.
  • Build repeatable delivery playbooks and project templates from each engagement, reducing ramp-up time and improving consistency across the DS&A portfolio.

4. AI & Data Science Project Enablement

  • Develop working fluency in AI, ML, and analytics concepts — enough to ask the right questions, scope projects realistically, and communicate technical outputs credibly to clients and business stakeholders.
  • Partner with Data Scientists, Data Analysts, and AI Engineers to structure discovery phases, experimentation cycles, and model deployment timelines in ways that balance rigour with delivery speed.
  • Create innovative ways to visualize project progress, model performance, and business impact — helping non-technical audiences genuinely understand the value AI/data work delivers.

5. Creative Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Bring fresh thinking to how DS&A projects are planned and delivered — challenge conventional PM approaches and design delivery models that fit the fast-moving, often ambiguous nature of AI and data work.
  • Stay ahead of trends in PMO, digital transformation, and AI project delivery; introduce tools, frameworks, and practices that genuinely improve how the team works — not for the sake of process, but for outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • 4–7 years in project management, with at least 2 years delivering data, analytics, AI, or digital transformation projects.
  • Outstanding facilitation and communication skills — able to run cross-functional workshops, write crisp stakeholder updates, and present confidently to C-suite clients.
  • Comfortable working with technical teams (you don't need to code, but you understand what's being built and why it matters).
  • Experience setting up or operating PMO functions; fluent in agile, waterfall, and hybrid delivery models. Proficient in project tools (JIRA, Asana, Confluence, Monday, or equivalent) and strong visual storytelling (PowerPoint, Miro).
  • A creative thinker who thrives in ambiguity, builds things from scratch, and gets energized by complex cross-functional environments. Fluent in English and Chinese.

Success Indicators

  • DS&A PMO established and running within 3 months — governance in place across all active engagements, with project leads reporting it adds value rather than overhead.
  • Client satisfaction with communication quality and delivery transparency: zero project-status surprises, and clients who actively reference the quality of our engagement management as a differentiator.
  • Data and digital transformation projects delivered on scope with measurable business outcomes documented and shared.
  • Recognized by project leads, Data Scientists, and the Head of DS&A as a strategic delivery partner — the person who makes the team sharper, not the one who sends the meeting reminders.
