Projects Finance Analyst - Contract
An established Engineering Consultancy organisation is seeking a Projects Finance Analyst to support the financial and operational performance of a portfolio of projects within a consulting and infrastructure-focused environment.
This role sits within a commercial function responsible for strengthening project governance, improving financial outcomes, and driving best-practice commercial processes across the business. The successful candidate will partner closely with project and operational teams to ensure strong forecasting, reporting, and performance management.
Role Overview
Working alongside senior commercial leadership, you will analyse project performance, update forecasts, interpret financial data, and provide insights to support sound decision-making. The role also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and helps embed stronger commercial discipline across project teams.
Key Responsibilities
. Monitor and analyse the financial performance of projects or business units, highlighting risks and opportunities
. Update project forecasts and support budget tracking to ensure accurate financial reporting
. Review financial and operational data to ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness
. Prepare reports, documentation, and commercial correspondence where required
. Represent the commercial function in internal meetings and cross-functional initiatives
. Support improvements to commercial tools, processes, and systems
. Assist in strengthening commercial awareness across project teams
. Contribute to internal initiatives and activities aimed at improving financial consistency and outcomes
Candidate Profile
. Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, quantity surveying, finance, or a related discipline
. Approximately 3-5 years of commercial, project finance, or cost management experience within consulting, construction, or infrastructure-related environments preferred
. Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret complex financial data
. Good understanding of project financial management, contract principles, and commercial governance
. Proficient in advanced Excel and familiar with business intelligence or reporting tools
. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders
. Detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic project environment
